Excel Outdoor Advertising founder, Chris Long started his career in Outdoor Advertising just before he started college at Purdue University. Initially diving in as a full time graphic designer for a company that owned and operated over 300 advertising faces. From there, he took on a sales position and continued to design the graphics for what he and the rest of the sales team had sold. As time went on, he would also help out in the field with construction and graphic installations when needed. In doing so, it helped pull each element together, on how the outdoor plant worked as a whole unit.
Fast forward four years, and the company he worked for was sold. Long then started a graphics company, Metropolitan Marketing, of which he still owns and operates to this day. Metropolitan services advertising agencies and billboard clients across the US for billboard vinyls, media buys, large fleet & bus wraps, as well as other various oversized graphics. In Metropolitan's infancy, Chris also worked side by side with a small team in developing billboard sites in larger demographic markets. The advertisers that were targeted for these units often led beyond the local market and working with national buyers for corporate accounts.
After graduating from Purdue with a Bachelors Degree in Organizational Leadership and Supervision, Chris decided to stick around Lafayette and lay his roots. A few years later, he and his wife Amy were married and are currently raising their 3 children in Tippecanoe County. All in hopes of having 3 more Boilermakers in the family!
